Saudijska Arabija je pojačala uhićenja građana zbog objava na društvenim mrežama u vezi s ratom između Izraela i Hamasa, jer kraljevina signalizira svoju spremnost da pristane na diplomatske odnose s izraelskom državom - ako se posveti palestinskoj državnosti. Pritvaranje ljudi zbog komentara na internetu – čak i maloljetnih osoba - i ograničavanje slobode govora i političkog izražavanja su norma u Saudijskoj Arabiji. No, prema riječima diplomata i grupa za ljudska prava sa sjedištem u Rijadu, nedavni val uhićenja motiviran je sigurnosnim problemima, posebno vezanim za Hamasov napad na Izrael sedmog listopada 2023. godine, piše Klix. 

Izraelsko uzvratno bombardiranje Gaze ubilo je više od 34.000 Palestinaca prema navodima vlasti u enklavi kojom rukovodi Hamas, a mnogima je hitno potrebna hrana i zdravstvena zaštita.

To je izazvalo antiizraelske reakcije širom arapskog svijeta i u zapadnim zemljama, uključujući SAD, gdje su se nasilni sukobi dogodili na fakultetskim kampusima. Stotine demonstranata je zbog toga uhićeno u samo jednom danu.

Saudijska Arabija i regionalni saveznici, poput Egipta i Jordana, uznemireni su ovim trendom, bojeći se da bi Iran i islamističke grupe mogle iskoristiti sukob da potaknu val ustanaka, rekli su izvori navodeći da žele ostati anonimni zbog sigurnosnih razloga.

Sjećanje na arapsko proljeće prije više od jednog desetljeća ostalo je svježe među regionalnim vladarima, koji očajnički žele izbjeći ponavljanje takvog ili sličnog scenarija.

Od sedmog listopada i napada Hamasa, a potom i uzvratnih napada Izraela koji su nastavljeni i dalje, Saudijska Arabija je oštro kritizirala Izrael i zahtijevala hitan prekid vatre, istovremeno naznačujući da ostaje otvorena za toplije odnose ako izraelski premijer Benjamin Netanyahu povuče trupe i obaveže se na uspostavljanje palestinske države.

Saudijska Arabija je pojačala uhićenja građana zbog objava na društvenim mrežama u vezi s ratom između Izraela i Hamasa, jer kraljevina signalizira svoju spremnost da pristane na diplomatske odnose s izraelskom državom - ako se posveti palestinskoj državnosti. Saudijska Arabija i regionalni saveznici, poput Egipta i Jordana, uznemireni su ovim trendom, bojeći se da bi Iran i islamističke grupe mogle iskoristiti sukob da potaknu val ustanaka, rekli su izvori navodeći da žele ostati anonimni zbog sigurnosnih razloga.

Sjećanje na arapsko proljeće prije više od jednog desetljeća ostalo je svježe među regionalnim vladarima, koji očajnički žele izbjeći ponavljanje takvog ili sličnog scenarija.

Od sedmog listopada i napada Hamasa, a potom i uzvratnih napada Izraela koji su nastavljeni i dalje, Saudijska Arabija je oštro kritizirala Izrael i zahtijevala hitan prekid vatre, istovremeno naznačujući da ostaje otvorena za toplije odnose ako izraelski premijer Benjamin Netanyahu povuče trupe i obaveže se na uspostavljanje palestinske države.

Saudijska Arabija je pojačala uhićenja građana zbog objava na društvenim mrežama u vezi s ratom između Izraela i Hamasa, jer kraljevina signalizira svoju spremnost da pristane na diplomatske odnose s izraelskom državom - ako se posveti palestinskoj državnosti. Pritvaranje ljudi zbog komentara na internetu – čak i maloljetnih osoba - i ograničavanje slobode govora i političkog izražavanja su norma u Saudijskoj Arabiji.
