Kad su prije nešto manje od dva i pol mjeseca iz Kine počeli pristizati podaci o prvim smrtima uzrokovanima dosad nepoznatim virusom, iako nije nije bilo panike kakva vlada sada, među stručnom javnosti mogla se osjetiti doza nelagode.

Nepoznati virus vjerojatno je najgora noćna mora svih epidemiologa, a kad se pojavi u nedemokratskom režimu, osjet opasnosti je ipak nešto malo veći. U jeku epidemije u Wuhanu podaci su na pojedine dane djelovali katastrofično: više od 10% ljudi je umiralo, a iako je WHO od početka hvalio kineske napore suzbijanja virusa i podatke koje im dostavljaju, uvijek je postojalo zrno sumnje: što ako nisu do kraja istiniti? Što ako je virus zapravo opasniji nego što se čini?

Stoga se u nekim znanstvenim krugovima na neki čudan način s olakšanjem dočekalo širenje virusa u demokratska društva, s velikim žarištem u Italiji iz koje su se mogli crpiti sigurno vjerodostojni podaci.

Pokazalo se da Europom vlada isti soj virusa, nije mutirao, a smrtnost se, barem okvirno, podudarala s podacima iz Wuhana. Kineske brojke su bile precizne, početkom veljače znanstvenici su imali prilično dobru sliku protiv čega se borimo.

Niti mjesec dana od prvih slučajeva, ljudi u Italiji su počeli umirati. I od tada nisu stali. Sutra će se navršiti točno mjesec dana od prve smrti, a samo danas je umrlo 627 ljudi. Više od deset dana nakon proglašenja potpune karantene, Talijani umiru u rekordnim brojevima. Stvari su se do sada već trebale smiriti, zašto nisu?

Razlozi su, naravno, kompleksni. Jedan dio krivice leži u tromoj reakciji sustava i činjenici da su dozvolili da epidemija bukne u najosjetljivijem dijelu društva - bolnicama i ambulantama. No, i druge zemlje imale su proboje virusa među zdravstvene djelatnike, za sada nitko nije u tako dramatičnoj situaciji kao Talijani. Štoviše, zemlje poput Kine (izuzev prvog žarišta u Wuhanu), Singapura i Njemačke smrtnost su zadržale na iznimno niskim razinama. Svi oni imaju isti koronavirus koji hara populacijom, ali Talijani od njega umiru najviše. Zašto?

---Uzmimo za primjer Italiju i Njemačku. Zemlje u kojima je prvi slučaj zaraze zabilježen gotovo na isti datum, u Njemačkoj čak nekoliko dana ranije. Na grafikonima možete vidjeti kako je rastao broj slučajeva u obje države, a kad pogledamo ukupan broj dolazimo do možda i najvažnijeg razloga zbog kojeg je smrtnost u Italiji 8,5%, a u Njemačkoj 0,18. U istom periodu Talijani su dozvolili da se virus proširi na više od dvostruko više građana nego Nijemci. Po službenoj statistici, a stvarno stanje je još gore, u Italiji je 27 tisuća oboljelih više nego u zemlji u kojoj se bolest počela širiti gotovo istog dana.

Nemojte niti na jedan trenutak pomisliti kako su odluke o potpunoj obustavi društvene i ekonomske aktivnosti koje su svjetske Vlade donijele bile jednostavne. Nevjerojatno je teško odvagati želimo li riskirati živote starijih sugrađana, a zauzvrat radno aktivno stanovništvo spasiti od potencijalno dugogodišnje recesije ili spašavati živote, a onda brinuti o ekonomiji. I u jednom i u drugom slučaju ljudi će umirati, sada od virusa, kasnije od siromaštva i popratnih bolesti uzrokovanih stresom zbog neimaštine, neplaćenih rata kredita, izgubljenih poslova i nekretnina.

No, ono što je važno - na koju god strategiju se odlučili, a svijet je gotovo ujedinjen da se prvo spašavaju životi, onda razmišlja o gospodarstvu, treba je iznijeti do kraja. Tek tada ta užasno teška odluka ima smisla, a najgore što možemo napraviti je ovo na što su se odlučili Talijani.

U potpunoj karanteni devastirali su gospodarstvo, a istovremeno nemaju nikakve benefite od te odluke jer građani masovno ignoriraju karantenu. Prema podacima telekoma i do 60% njih krši pravila i svakodnevno izlaze iz domova. Uz takvo ponašanje dobit će i trenutnu smrt od virusa i naknadnu smrt od devastirane ekonomije, a čitavo izvanredno stanje će se produžiti mjesecima duže nego što bi trebalo. 

Talijani ne umiru zbog virusa, ili uglavnom ne umiru zbog virusa, i to je apsolutno najvažnija lekcija koju Hrvatska mora zapamtiti gledajući ove grozomorne brojke, videa i fotografije iz Lombardije i pripremajući se za vlastitu nacionalnu karantenu.

Umiru zbog manjka discipline i društvene odgovornosti, klasičnog mediteranskog pristupa koji je u normalnim okolnostima beskrajno šarmantan, a u ovim izvanrednim beskrajno opasan.

Ili ćemo se odlučiti na izolaciju i poštovati pravila, ili ćemo napraviti katastrofu u kojoj će ljudi dvostruko stradavati. Hrvatsku čeka karantena koja znači 0,18% ili 8,5% i godine recesije, nemojmo se zavaravati da je odluka na virusu.

Kad su prije nešto manje od dva i pol mjeseca iz Kine počeli pristizati podaci o prvim smrtima uzrokovanima dosad nepoznatim virusom, iako nije nije bilo panike kakva vlada sada, među stručnom javnosti mogla se osjetiti doza nelagode.

Nepoznati virus vjerojatno je najgora noćna mora svih epidemiologa, a kad se pojavi u nedemokratskom režimu, osjet opasnosti je ipak nešto malo veći. U jeku epidemije u Wuhanu podaci su na pojedine dane djelovali katastrofično: više od 10% ljudi je umiralo, a iako je WHO od početka hvalio kineske napore suzbijanja virusa i podatke koje im dostavljaju, uvijek je postojalo zrno sumnje: što ako nisu do kraja istiniti? Što ako je virus zapravo opasniji nego što se čini?

Stoga se u nekim znanstvenim krugovima na neki čudan način s olakšanjem dočekalo širenje virusa u demokratska društva, s velikim žarištem u Italiji iz koje su se mogli crpiti sigurno vjerodostojni podaci.

Pokazalo se da Europom vlada isti soj virusa, nije mutirao, a smrtnost se, barem okvirno, podudarala s podacima iz Wuhana. Kineske brojke su bile precizne, početkom veljače znanstvenici su imali prilično dobru sliku protiv čega se borimo.

Niti mjesec dana od prvih slučajeva, ljudi u Italiji su počeli umirati. I od tada nisu stali. Sutra će se navršiti točno mjesec dana od prve smrti, a samo danas je umrlo 627 ljudi. Više od deset dana nakon proglašenja potpune karantene, Talijani umiru u rekordnim brojevima. Stvari su se do sada već trebale smiriti, zašto nisu?

Razlozi su, naravno, kompleksni. Jedan dio krivice leži u tromoj reakciji sustava i činjenici da su dozvolili da epidemija bukne u najosjetljivijem dijelu društva - bolnicama i ambulantama. No, i druge zemlje imale su proboje virusa među zdravstvene djelatnike, za sada nitko nije u tako dramatičnoj situaciji kao Talijani. Štoviše, zemlje poput Kine (izuzev prvog žarišta u Wuhanu), Singapura i Njemačke smrtnost su zadržale na iznimno niskim razinama. Svi oni imaju isti koronavirus koji hara populacijom, ali Talijani od njega umiru najviše. Zašto?

---Uzmimo za primjer Italiju i Njemačku. Zemlje u kojima je prvi slučaj zaraze zabilježen gotovo na isti datum, u Njemačkoj čak nekoliko dana ranije. Na grafikonima možete vidjeti kako je rastao broj slučajeva u obje države, a kad pogledamo ukupan broj dolazimo do možda i najvažnijeg razloga zbog kojeg je smrtnost u Italiji 8,5%, a u Njemačkoj 0,18. U istom periodu Talijani su dozvolili da se virus proširi na više od dvostruko više građana nego Nijemci. Po službenoj statistici, a stvarno stanje je još gore, u Italiji je 27 tisuća oboljelih više nego u zemlji u kojoj se bolest počela širiti gotovo istog dana.

Nemojte niti na jedan trenutak pomisliti kako su odluke o potpunoj obustavi društvene i ekonomske aktivnosti koje su svjetske Vlade donijele bile jednostavne. Nevjerojatno je teško odvagati želimo li riskirati živote starijih sugrađana, a zauzvrat radno aktivno stanovništvo spasiti od potencijalno dugogodišnje recesije ili spašavati živote, a onda brinuti o ekonomiji. I u jednom i u drugom slučaju ljudi će umirati, sada od virusa, kasnije od siromaštva i popratnih bolesti uzrokovanih stresom zbog neimaštine, neplaćenih rata kredita, izgubljenih poslova i nekretnina.

No, ono što je važno - na koju god strategiju se odlučili, a svijet je gotovo ujedinjen da se prvo spašavaju životi, onda razmišlja o gospodarstvu, treba je iznijeti do kraja. Tek tada ta užasno teška odluka ima smisla, a najgore što možemo napraviti je ovo na što su se odlučili Talijani.

U potpunoj karanteni devastirali su gospodarstvo, a istovremeno nemaju nikakve benefite od te odluke jer građani masovno ignoriraju karantenu. Prema podacima telekoma i do 60% njih krši pravila i svakodnevno izlaze iz domova. Uz takvo ponašanje dobit će i trenutnu smrt od virusa i naknadnu smrt od devastirane ekonomije, a čitavo izvanredno stanje će se produžiti mjesecima duže nego što bi trebalo. 

Talijani ne umiru zbog virusa, ili uglavnom ne umiru zbog virusa, i to je apsolutno najvažnija lekcija koju Hrvatska mora zapamtiti gledajući ove grozomorne brojke, videa i fotografije iz Lombardije i pripremajući se za vlastitu nacionalnu karantenu.

Umiru zbog manjka discipline i društvene odgovornosti, klasičnog mediteranskog pristupa koji je u normalnim okolnostima beskrajno šarmantan, a u ovim izvanrednim beskrajno opasan.

Ili ćemo se odlučiti na izolaciju i poštovati pravila, ili ćemo napraviti katastrofu u kojoj će ljudi dvostruko stradavati. Hrvatsku čeka karantena koja znači 0,18% ili 8,5% i godine recesije, nemojmo se zavaravati da je odluka na virusu.

Sad konačno znamo zašto ljudi u Italiji ne prestaju umirati. Nije zbog virusa

Kad su prije nešto manje od dva i pol mjeseca iz Kine počeli pristizati podaci o prvim smrtima uzrokovanima dosad nepoznatim virusom, iako nije nije bilo panike kakva vlada sada, među stručnom javnosti mogla se osjetiti doza nelagode.

Nepoznati virus vjerojatno je najgora noćna mora svih epidemiologa, a kad se pojavi u nedemokratskom režimu, osjet opasnosti je ipak nešto malo veći. U jeku epidemije u Wuhanu podaci su na pojedine dane djelovali katastrofično: više od 10% ljudi je umiralo, a iako je WHO od početka hvalio kineske napore suzbijanja virusa i podatke koje im dostavljaju, uvijek je postojalo zrno sumnje: što ako nisu do kraja istiniti? Što ako je virus zapravo opasniji nego što se čini?

Stoga se u nekim znanstvenim krugovima na neki čudan način s olakšanjem dočeka...
