Radnik na izgradnji jednog od sportskih borilišta za Olimpijske igre u Tokiju umro je u četvrtak od toplinskog udara, objavili su organizatori u petak. 

U srpnju je od visokih temperatura umrlo najmanje 57 ljudi širom Japana, što povećava zabrinutost za moguće zdravstvene teškoće sportaša i publike, jedan od najvećih izazova za organizatore Igara koje će biti otvorene 24. srpnja iduće godine. 

Pedesetogodišnji građevinski radnik koji je radio na opremanju budućeg medijskog centra pronađen je na tlu bez svijesti u četvrtak popodne i prevezen u bolnicu, gdje je samo potvrđena njegova smrt, rekli su organizatori Igara. 

Policija, koju prenosi nacionalna televizija NHK, rekla je da uvjeti na mjestu događaja sugeriraju moguću smrt od toplinskog udara. U Tokiju je u četvrtak izmjerena temperatura od 35,5 stupnjeva Celzijevih.

Srpanjske temperature u Tokiju uobičajeno su preko 30 stupnjeva, a kolovoške su u prosjeku gotovo 35 stupnjeva. 

Širom Japana od vrućine je umrlo najmanje 57 ljudi od 29. srpnja do 4. kolovoza, a hospitalizirano je 18.347 ljudi.

Ljetne Olimpijske igre uglavnom se održavaju za vrijeme ljeta na sjevernoj polutki, no kad je Tokio bio domaćin Igara 1964. premještene su na listopad, baš kako bi se izbjegle ljetna vrućina.

Takva pomicanja više nisu moguća zbog međunarodnih televizijskih prava i sportskih rasporeda, uključujući sezonu američkog i europskog nogometa. 

Organizatori Olimpijskih igara planiraju mjere protiv vrućine, uključujući zaklonjene prostore za odmor, šatore na sigurnosnim kontrolnim mjestima, raspršivanje vode i paketa leda.

Početak ženskog i muškog maratona 9. kolovoza zbog toga je premješten na 6 sati ujutro po mjesnom vremenu, kao dodatna mjera opreza.

Igre u Tokiju će trajati od 24. srpnja do 9. kolovoza.

Radnik na izgradnji jednog od sportskih borilišta za Olimpijske igre u Tokiju umro je u četvrtak od toplinskog udara, objavili su organizatori u petak. 

U srpnju je od visokih temperatura umrlo najmanje 57 ljudi širom Japana, što povećava zabrinutost za moguće zdravstvene teškoće sportaša i publike, jedan od najvećih izazova za organizatore Igara koje će biti otvorene 24. srpnja iduće godine. 

Pedesetogodišnji građevinski radnik koji je radio na opremanju budućeg medijskog centra pronađen je na tlu bez svijesti u četvrtak popodne i prevezen u bolnicu, gdje je samo potvrđena njegova smrt, rekli su organizatori Igara. 

Policija, koju prenosi nacionalna televizija NHK, rekla je da uvjeti na mjestu događaja sugeriraju moguću smrt od toplinskog udara. U Tokiju je u četvrtak izmjerena temperatura od 35,5 stupnjeva Celzijevih.

Srpanjske temperature u Tokiju uobičajeno su preko 30 stupnjeva, a kolovoške su u prosjeku gotovo 35 stupnjeva. 

Širom Japana od vrućine je umrlo najmanje 57 ljudi od 29. srpnja do 4. kolovoza, a hospitalizirano je 18.347 ljudi.

Ljetne Olimpijske igre uglavnom se održavaju za vrijeme ljeta na sjevernoj polutki, no kad je Tokio bio domaćin Igara 1964. premještene su na listopad, baš kako bi se izbjegle ljetna vrućina.

Takva pomicanja više nisu moguća zbog međunarodnih televizijskih prava i sportskih rasporeda, uključujući sezonu američkog i europskog nogometa. 

Organizatori Olimpijskih igara planiraju mjere protiv vrućine, uključujući zaklonjene prostore za odmor, šatore na sigurnosnim kontrolnim mjestima, raspršivanje vode i paketa leda.

Početak ženskog i muškog maratona 9. kolovoza zbog toga je premješten na 6 sati ujutro po mjesnom vremenu, kao dodatna mjera opreza.

Igre u Tokiju će trajati od 24. srpnja do 9. kolovoza.
