Europske zemlje bilježe značajan porast slučajeva Covida-19 potaknut visoko infektivnim podvarijantama omikrona, što izaziva strah od novog vala s obzirom na pad zaštite koju je pružalo cjepivo i početak ljetne sezone putovanja, javlja CNN.

Europski centar za prevenciju i kontrolu bolesti (ECDC) upozorio je prošli tjedan da "porast stupnja zaraze prijavljene za (podvarijante omikrona) BA.4 i BA.5 ukazuje da će one postati dominantne" u cijeloj Europskoj uniji i vjerojatno rezultirati rastom broja slučajeva.

Infekcije su u porastu u više zemalja, uključujući Portugal, Njemačku, Francusku, Grčku, Austriju, Italiju, Švicarsku i Španjolsku, prema podacima projekta Our World in Data (OWID) Sveučilišta Oxford, koji prati pandemiju.

Nove studije

Nove studije su pokazale da omikron podvarijante BA.4 i BA.5, uspoređujući ih s ranijima, spretnije izbjegavaju imunosni sustav.

To znači da ni prethodne infekcije niti cjepiva ne pružaju posebno jaku zaštitu od podvarijanti zbog čega postaju dominantne.

Čini se da BA.4 i BA.5 ipak ne dovode do težih bolesti. Međutim, kao i kod prethodnih valova, povećanje slučajeva moglo bi rezultirati porastom hospitalizacija i smrti, objavio je ECDC.

Potencijalni utjecaj jedne od podvarijanti – BA.5 – najočitiji je u Portugalu gdje je potaknuo značajan porast infekcija Covidom. U bolnicama diljem zemlje broj oboljelih je 1896, gotovo jednak kao tijekom prvog omikron vala u siječnju. BA.5 u svibnju je postao dominantan u Portugalu.

U Francuskoj se broj novozaraženih na milijun ljudi gotovo utrostručio od početka mjeseca, a broj hospitalizacija raste prvi puta od početka travnja. Prema najnovijim podacima javnozdravstvene agencije Santé Publique France, BA.5 je porastao na 24 posto sekvenciranih slučajeva u tjednu od 6. lipnja u usporedbi s 18 posto tjedan prije.

Alain Fischer, koji je na čelu skupine koja se bavi cijepljenjem stanovništva u Francuskoj, kazao je u srijedu da nije upitno je li zemlja suočena s novim valom virusa, već koliko bi on mogao biti intenzivan, rekavši da se osobno zalaže za ponovno uvođenje nekih ograničenja kako bi se spriječilo širenje.

"Epidemija je dobila novi zamah i potpuno je neočekivana u ovoj sezoni", izjavio je u nedjelju za francuski radio dr. Benjamin Davido, specijalist za zarazne bolesti u bolnici Raymond-Poincaré nedaleko Pariza.

U Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu, gdje broj slučajeva i hospitalizacija naglo raste, čini se da su početak novog vala također potaknuli BA.4 i BA.5, prema Uredu za nacionalnu statistiku (ONS). Najnoviji podaci ONS-a, objavljeni 17. lipnja, pokazali su da infekcije covidom rastu za 43 posto iz tjedna u tjedan, prema medicinskom časopisu British Medical Journal (BMJ).

Christina Pagel, profesorica operativnih istraživanja na University College London, napisala je u tom listu: "Bit ćemo prva (ali ne i posljednja) velika zemlja koja će imati val BA.4.5 nakon što je imala dva prethodna omikron vala".

Europske zemlje bilježe značajan porast slučajeva Covida-19 potaknut visoko infektivnim podvarijantama omikrona, što izaziva strah od novog vala s obzirom na pad zaštite koju je pružalo cjepivo i početak ljetne sezone putovanja, javlja CNN.

Europski centar za prevenciju i kontrolu bolesti (ECDC) upozorio je prošli tjedan da "porast stupnja zaraze prijavljene za (podvarijante omikrona) BA.4 i BA.5 ukazuje da će one postati dominantne" u cijeloj Europskoj uniji i vjerojatno rezultirati rastom broja slučajeva.

Infekcije su u porastu u više zemalja, uključujući Portugal, Njemačku, Francusku, Grčku, Austriju, Italiju, Švicarsku i Španjolsku, prema podacima projekta Our World in Data (OWID) Sveučilišta Oxford, koji prati pandemiju.

Nove studije

Nove studije su pokazale da omikron podvarijante BA.4 i BA.5, uspoređujući ih s ranijima, spretnije izbjegavaju imunosni sustav.

To znači da ni prethodne infekcije niti cjepiva ne pružaju posebno jaku zaštitu od podvarijanti zbog čega postaju dominantne.

Čini se da BA.4 i BA.5 ipak ne dovode do težih bolesti. Međutim, kao i kod prethodnih valova, povećanje slučajeva moglo bi rezultirati porastom hospitalizacija i smrti, objavio je ECDC.

Potencijalni utjecaj jedne od podvarijanti – BA.5 – najočitiji je u Portugalu gdje je potaknuo značajan porast infekcija Covidom. U bolnicama diljem zemlje broj oboljelih je 1896, gotovo jednak kao tijekom prvog omikron vala u siječnju. BA.5 u svibnju je postao dominantan u Portugalu.

U Francuskoj se broj novozaraženih na milijun ljudi gotovo utrostručio od početka mjeseca, a broj hospitalizacija raste prvi puta od početka travnja. Prema najnovijim podacima javnozdravstvene agencije Santé Publique France, BA.5 je porastao na 24 posto sekvenciranih slučajeva u tjednu od 6. lipnja u usporedbi s 18 posto tjedan prije.

Alain Fischer, koji je na čelu skupine koja se bavi cijepljenjem stanovništva u Francuskoj, kazao je u srijedu da nije upitno je li zemlja suočena s novim valom virusa, već koliko bi on mogao biti intenzivan, rekavši da se osobno zalaže za ponovno uvođenje nekih ograničenja kako bi se spriječilo širenje.

"Epidemija je dobila novi zamah i potpuno je neočekivana u ovoj sezoni", izjavio je u nedjelju za francuski radio dr. Benjamin Davido, specijalist za zarazne bolesti u bolnici Raymond-Poincaré nedaleko Pariza.

U Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu, gdje broj slučajeva i hospitalizacija naglo raste, čini se da su početak novog vala također potaknuli BA.4 i BA.5, prema Uredu za nacionalnu statistiku (ONS). Najnoviji podaci ONS-a, objavljeni 17. lipnja, pokazali su da infekcije covidom rastu za 43 posto iz tjedna u tjedan, prema medicinskom časopisu British Medical Journal (BMJ).

Christina Pagel, profesorica operativnih istraživanja na University College London, napisala je u tom listu: "Bit ćemo prva (ali ne i posljednja) velika zemlja koja će imati val BA.4.5 nakon što je imala dva prethodna omikron vala".

Europske zemlje bilježe značajan porast slučajeva Covida-19 potaknut visoko infektivnim podvarijantama omikrona, što izaziva strah od novog vala s obzirom na pad zaštite koju je pružalo cjepivo i početak ljetne sezone putovanja, javlja CNN.

Europski centar za prevenciju i kontrolu bolesti (ECDC) upozorio je prošli tjedan da "porast stupnja zaraze prijavljene za (podvarijante omikrona) BA.4 i BA.5 ukazuje da će one postati dominantne" u cijeloj Europskoj uniji i vjerojatno rezultirati rastom broja slučajeva.

Infekcije su u porastu u više zemalja, uključujući Portugal, Njemačku, Francusku, Grčku, Austriju, Italiju, Švicarsku i Španjolsku, prema podacima projekta Our World in Data (OWID) Sveučilišta Oxford, koji prati pandemiju.

Nove studije

Nove studije su pokazale da omikron podvarijante BA.4 i BA.5, uspoređujući ih s ranijima, spretnije izbjegavaju imunosni sustav.

To znači da ni prethodne infekcije niti cjepiva ne pružaju posebno jaku zaštitu od podvarijanti zbog čega postaju dominantne.
